Social Media Strategist/Brand Journalist

Position Summary: The Social Media Strategist/Brand Journalist will, create, write, review, and edit marketing material as well as coordinate, monitor, and design materials and content for an integrated email, print, blog & social media programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the goal, audience, and message of a campaign and creates copy to suit.
  • Researches, writes, edits, and proofs all levels of copy included headlines and body copy, for all online, print media, website, social media sites, and internal needs.
  • Designs content and graphics for informative and engaging digital pieces, such as infographics. For more complex or in-depth projects, this will require working as a team with our Graphic Designer and marketing team.
  • Write innovative and compelling short & long form stories.
  • Builds and implements social media programs and documents related processes to ensure appropriate messaging is executed to support the companies’ mission and goals.
  • Monitors and engages in brand and industry-related conversations online, social media groups, trends, tools and applications, and recommends actions.
  • Monitors performance of social media programs and regularly provides data reporting, insights and feedback.
  • Uses creative thinking and initiative to analyze site performance metrics and make recommendations on content, site design or features to improve effectiveness.
  • Responds to social media inquiries about online activities in a timely and courteous fashion.
  • Maintain good working relationships with industry thought leaders and strategic partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of combined experience in journalism, copywriting, graphic design, and/or social media management preferably in an extreme/action sports industry.
  • BA in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • Proven track-record of creating dynamic and engaging content. Portfolio should be provided.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experienced with Social Media Management software preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of skydiving and/or skydiving industry preferred.
  • Display effective time management, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as team member.
  • Adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for communicating with all levels of Performance Designs, Inc. staff, customers, vendors, dealers, and media.

Physical Requirements:

  • Finger, hand, and arm dexterity necessary for data entry and creation of reports.
  • Visual acuity to perform all job functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for communicating with all internal and external publics.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Ability and desire to travel approximately 10% of the time, possibly including weekends and holidays.
